The Oxford grad continues to deliver nostalgic, chaotic, and addictive meloadies that instantly put you into a trans of the golden age and good vibes. The ‘Oi’ sampled from some random Youtube pronunciation video is like the Batman signal, but only this time it’s signalling you back to the Y2K 2010’s era.
What I love most about the album is that it feels like a time machine, but also not. ‘OI!’ is produced by some heavyweights such as Kwes e, containing stuttering drums, swirling synths and a whole lotta Oi’s. The Kai Cenat cameo that follows YT chatting up the baddies on a shopping spree, are you kidding me? YT has set the foundation alongside with Jim Legxacy for how to make retro music but with a modern twist and a pinch of perfection.
I’m excited for this upcoming UK rap scene, it’s an exciting moment with exciting melodies to match. YT is here with sounds that are fresh, yet familiar.
