When I first listened to ‘500k Degrees’, I had no idea what i was in for. I’ve always been down to listen to albums that feel authentic, raw – albums that don’t shy away from showing the rough edges of life. From the very start, it was clear that BBB was going to deliver just that on a beautiful Thursday afternoon.
The opening intro caught me off guard, the beat, driven by deep 808s and sharp hi-hats, immediately set the tone for what was to come. I was now transported into his world – a world where the stakes are life or death, the kind of music that makes you feel like you are right there with him.
More into the album we find ‘3B Psycho Diary’ and ‘SOB’, these offer a more introspective vibe, showcasing Benji’s lyircal prowess and emotional depth. It is where i find myself really connecting with the raw BBB that we all know and love.
‘1942’ delivers something unworldly, a harmonic angelic flow is what i call it, this is where we see the talent and skillset of Benji and the ability to push the sound of modern hip-hop, while he maintains his signature flow and style. ‘Youtube’ stands out as a commentary on the digital age, blending sharp lyrics with a catchy hook that will stay with you daily!
As the album wraps up, I couldn’t help but appreciate the cohesiveness of the entire project and Benji Blue Bills’ ability to create a consistent sonic landscape that is both intense and reflective. A rare combination in today’s game.
In short I really enjoy seeing Benji’s growth as an artist. It’s Raw, It’s Real.
